Dog Care

Physical Examinations

Early detection is the key to successful treatment of any disease condition.  By performing annual examinations, we are able to identify disease processes as well as make nutritional, behavioral, and weight management recommendations.  Diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, oral disease, and cancer are treated much more successfully when an early diagnosis is made.

Diagnostic Radiology

The Seville Wadsworth Veterinary Clinic is equipped with full radiographic capabilities.  We often utilize radiographs (X-rays) to evaluate animals for heart and lung disease, orthopedic issues, gastrointestinal issues and other abnormalities. We are also able to perform contrast studies when indicated.

Preventative Health Care

Preventative health care is more than just vaccinations.  The most important aspect of a comprehensive preventive health care plan is the physical examination.  We strive to educate clients on proper vaccination protocols, heartworm prophylaxis, nutritional support, and weight management.  Preventative health care is the best way to achieve a long and happy life for your pet.

Surgical Services

The Seville Wadsworth Veterinary Clinic features a fully equipped surgical suite.  Surgical procedures include: spay/neuter, declawing, dewclaw removal, tumor removal, surgical biopsy, abdominal exploratory surgery, ocular surgery, caesarean section, orthopedic surgery, and many more.

Dental disease is a very common and possibly devastating disease of our pets.  As with most diseases, early detection is key to successful treatment.  Dental disease can lead to undesired consequences such as bad breath, tooth loss, and gingivitis just to name a few.  Dental cleaning entails placing your pet under general anesthesia and performing a complete ultrasonic scaling and polishing of every tooth.  Similar to your own dentist, we also perform dental radiographs (X-rays), which allow us to evaluate the structures that anchor the teeth to the underlying bone.  We also perform extractions on severely diseased or broken teeth.

Vaccination Services

Many people think about vaccinations when they think about their wellness care.  There are many components to a wellness program, but vaccinations do provide one of the best lines of defense against many disease.  We carefully select our vaccination lines from among many top vaccination providers.  This allows us to offer the best vaccinations, with the lowest risk to your pet.  We also follow the latest in vaccination guidelines, which often coincide with those published by the American Animal Hospital Association.

Vaccinations that we recommend for dogs include:

Distemper Virus

Rabies Virus

Bordetella (Kennel Cough)

Lyme Disease

Canine Influenza

Orthopedic Services

Unfortunately, lameness is also a very common problem in our pet population.  We offer complete orthopedic evaluations, diagnostic x-ray services, and surgical procedures including cranial cruciate ligament repair, femoral head resection, and fracture repair.  We refer the majority of our orthopedic surgeries to our Orrville Veterinary Clinic location.

Laboratory Services

The Seville Wadsworth Veterinary Clinic has in-house bloodwork capabilities as well as relationships with outside labs for specialized testing and biopsy readings.  We are also able to perform bacterial and fungal cultures when necessary in order to choose the correct antibiotic therapy.

Puppy Education

The most critical time in the life of your dog is the first few months.  This time shapes your pets' behaviors, attitudes, as well as health for the rest of their lives.  We offer puppy counseling to every new pet owner.  This includes behavioral training information as well as health education on issues such as internal parasites, vaccination schedules, and heartworm prevention.  We also discuss other issues, such as how to make your home safer for your new pet (Pet proofing your home).
